A Neapolitan Festa a Ballo and Selected instrumental Ensemble Pieces

This edition presents a rare example of an early seventeenth-century Neapolitan dance spectacle for which both a libretto and a large part of the music are preserved. The work is a pasticcio by five collaborating composers: Lambardo, Trabaci, Spiardo, Ansalone, and Giramo. The instrumental ensemble pieces are representative of Neapolitan court music; these dances, or similar ones, may have been performed as supplements to the festa a ballo of this edition at its original presentation in 1620.
