Tomaso Albinoni
Twelve Cantatas, Opus 4

Although Albinoni's more than 40 solo cantatas contain some of his most imaginative and skillfully written music, only one of these pieces has appeared in a modern edition. The twelve works in his virtually unknown Opus 4, six for soprano and six for alto, are good specimens both of Albinoni's work in the domain of the solo cantata and of the genre in early eighteenth-century Italy.
