Recent Researches in the Music of the Baroque EraAntonio CestiIl Pomo d'oro (Music for Acts III and V from Modena, Biblioteca Estense, Ms. Mus. E. 120) Edited by Carl B. Schmidt
Cesti's opera was one of the celebrated court spectacles of the entire seventeenth century. These newly discovered excerpts allow us, for the first time, to have the music for acts three and five, thus supplementing Guido Adler's edition of the Prologue and acts one, two, and four in Denkmäler der Tonkunst in Österreich. See the article on Early Italian Opera in Embellishments 5.
