Recent Researches in the Music of the Baroque EraGregor AichingerThe Vocal Concertos Edited by William E. Hettrick
This volume of Aichinger's concertos for two to four voices, drawn from collections published between 1609 and 1626, complements the edition of the Cantiones ecclesiasticae (volume B 13 of this series) to present all of Aichinger's works in the progressive stylistic vein exemplified by Viadana's vocal concertos. All of these concertos are characterized by an essentially independent thoroughbass, and two of them call for an additional ensemble of two violins.
