From 1657 to his death Sebastian Knü (1633–1676) was one of the most distinguished predecessors of J. S. Bach in the office of Cantor at the Leipzig Thomaskirche. While most of his work is sacred, his Lustige Madrigalien und Canzonetten differs from his mostly sacred output. The verses range from refined to coarsely erotic and reflect the knind of music students sang at the time. This is the first modern edition of this collection, which has been available up to now in the original 1663 print. Music Sample |
