Taken from the last printed book for vihuela, Daza's Il Parnasso (1576), these 22 charming and eloquent fantasias constitute this Spanish composer's only surviving original compositions. Of these pieces, 18 are condensed initiative works; four are written in a florid idiomatic style. The edition provides two-stave transcriptions as well as a diplomatic transcription of the original tablatures. |
