Late in his life Le Jeune turned away from learned and complex styles and composed a simple, note-for-note harmonization of the Genevan Psalter. The pieces are straightforward and tuneful, and the harmonizations are more colorful than those of his predecessor Goudimel. This attractive collection is well within the capacities of professional and amateur singers or instrumentalists. |
