This edition of works by Beethoven's only composition student includes the Forty Variations on a Theme by Beethoven and the Sonata in F Minor for Violin and Piano. The variations were published in 1819 at Beethoven's particular urging, and two early manuscript versions of the work show numerous corrections in his hand. The sonata is a four-movement work that makes an attractive and useful addition to the violin-piano repertoire. Facsimiles from both works are part of this publication. Winner of the MPA Paul Revere Award, 1994.
