SET029 Boyce: Two Anthems for the Georgian Court
This edition is a set of two volumes, each sold separately.
William Boyce wrote these two anthems in 1760 and 1761, at the height of his career. Both are scored for large chorus and orchestra. The Souls of the Righteous was written for the funeral of George II and first performed on 11 November 1760. The King Shall Rejoice was written for the wedding of Queen Charlotte and George III on 8 September 1761. It was also adapted for performance on two other occasions, including the coronation of Charlotte and George.
