These ten works, for various small groups of string and wind instruments, are taken from the 1621 and 1629 volumes of Castello's Sonate concertate. A follower of Gabrieli and a contemporary of Monteverdi, Castello was one of the most innovative and respected instrumental composers of the early seventeenth century.
