These concertos, written by the most famous and active violinist-composers of Vivaldi's generation, were selected from one of the most important private collections of instrumental music of the early eighteenth century, which is now in the Bibliothèque nationale, Paris. The variety and flexibility of these works document the progressive elements of the Italian concerto of the early eighteenth century and foreshadow techniques of the emerging classical style.
Angelo Maria Scaccia, Concerto 23 (F Major)
Andrea Zanni, Concerto 31 (D Major)
Giovanni Baptista Somis, Concerto 32 (G Major)
Carlo Zuccarini, Concerto 47 (G Major)
Paulo Salurini, Concerto 50 (B-flat Major)
Simon McVeigh, Music & Letters, April 1986; Sherwood Dudley, MLA Notes, March 1987
