Access to the music in Malvezzi's publications of 1577 (long denied to scholars because of missing partbooks), and the discovery that one of these works is by Jacopo Peri, will greatly enhance appreciation of sixteenth-century chamber music. Among Padovano's ricercars is a solution to a unique, enigmatic piece with two clef signs for each part and a key signature of C-sharp and G-sharp.
